Chivalrous by Dina Sleiman

Book: Chivalrous
Author: Dina Sleiman
Publisher: Bethany House
Publishing Date: September 8, 2015

I received a copy of this book from www.NetGalley.com and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

My interest in this book is: I was blessed to read the 1st book in the Valiant Hearts series, Dauntless, and jumped at the opportunity to read book #2.

Type of Book: Historical Fiction, 1217 AD, North Britania, Teen and YA Romance

Ideas / message / plot: "To my readers: My prayer is that you will be strong and courageous. Follow the path God has laid before you, wherever that might lead. Be a doctor, a lawyer, a professional athlete, a wife, a mother, or even a president. Chase after your dreams, and if a handsome knight in shining armor should happen to come alongside you headed in the same direction, and you should happen to fall in love ... then join together and become partners in your quest. But please remember--you are complete, you are beautiful, and you are dearly loved by God just the way you are. "A woman of valor who can find? For her price is far above rubies ... Strength and dignity are her clothing; and he laughs at the times to come." (Proverbs 31:10, 25jps)

Favorite characters, quotes / lines: "Then you must have noticed the way Lachapelle matched me stick for strike. That man brought out the best in me. I have never fought so in my life. Only with an equal was I able to rise to my full potential" ~ loved this analogy!

"Were he to engage his imagination, he could almost picture wisps of fog spreading from the bottom of her jet-black gown" ~ what great imagery and way to tap into the "motion picture" feel

When I finished this book I felt: There were so many moments I stopped to note the analogies or the moments that made me think on something from the Bible; stories of David, words from Proverbs. What a great read!

Other books to read by this author: Definitely don't miss out on Dauntless, book #1 in the Valiant Heart series.

Overall: This is an entertaining story that brings a wonderful message in an exciting way. It's a message that women of any age can relate to and enjoy. I was tortured at moments of what would happen. Sleiman has an excellent cast with great struggles that are relatable to the reader. This story leaves me ready for the next book in the series; I can't wait!
