Book Review ~ Elusive Hope

Book: Elusive Hope
Author: MaryLu Tyndall
Publisher: Barbour Publishing
Publishing Date: November 1, 2013

Type of book: Historical Inspirational Fiction

I received this book free through www.netgalley.com from the publisher for an honest review.

My interest in this book: It's the 2nd in the series. The first book is Forsaken Dreams

Ideas expressed in this book: Spiritual encounters / battles; Beauty comes from the inside; You're not defined by your past--it is forgiven and you find yourself in Jesus.

Favorite Characters, quotes / lines: Magnolia and Hayden. Oh, how I loved these two!!!

"All these years her father, and oft times her many suitors as well, had spoken only of her appearance: complimenting, commending only her outside. Seeing her beauty as her only value."
WOW! This really reminded me to speak encouraging words to my little girl beyond, "You're so beautiful." Um...don't want her growing up like Magnolia, thinking that's all she has to recommend her.

When I finished this book I felt: ready for the next one!! We have a satisfying ending but also enough to draw us to the next one, wanting to know what happens. And there are plenty of characters that I look forward to watching more.

MaryLu always has such a great message woven into her books. There is always substance and because of that, I always look forward to reading her books; I know there will always be something in it for me and never "waste my time" like simple reads feel they do.

Overall: This was good. There is a strong presence of the Spiritual world -- sort of like Romance meets Frank Peretti. This is definitely a unique blend that is not often seen in the Christian world. I give it 4 stars--this book is flooded with classic MaryLu romance and adventure and tensions.

Other books I'd recommend by MaryLu? All of them! Here's her page on Amazon.
