Book Review ~ Sisters of Mercy Flats

Book: Sisters of Mercy Flats
Author: Lori Copeland
Publisher: Harvest House
Publishing date: June 1, 2013 (reprint)

Type of Book: Historical Fiction, Romance (civil war, Texas/Louisiana)

I received this book free through www.netgalley.com from the publisher for an honest review.

My interest in this book: I liked the cover and description of the book. Right from the start the story takes off so I thought I'd give it a try.

Ideas expressed/message/plot: Three sisters (orphaned) deceive/swindle unsuspecting men out of money to support the mission they were raised in. This book leans toward hearing God in our circumstances, seeing who people really are. Civil war/South.

Favorite characters, quotes/lines: "Never met an atheist on the battle field."

When I finished this book I felt: glad that there is another one to read! This was a fun, light read; Hallmark quality story. Really, it felt like a Saturday night, cute Hallmark movie to watch just to unwind from the week.

Overall: I give this story 4 stars, good for anyone teen+.

Other books to read by this Author or theme: I have not yet read any of her other books but I do plan to continue with this series. Other books with the Civil War theme? I love MaryLu Tyndall's Forsaken Dreams, though that is post-civil war.
