Book Review ~ A Most Peculiar Circumstance

Book: A Most Peculiar Circumstance
Author: Jen Turano
Publisher: Bethany House
Publication Date: June 1, 2013

I received this book free through www.netgalley.com from the publisher for an honest review.

My interest in this book: Her previous books have been entertaining and I know I can count on them for a humorous break. I read her novella Gentleman of Her Dream and saw great potential in it and have not been disappointed in her following novels.

Ideas expressed/message/plot: I have never noticed any great message in Turano's books. In this story, Private Detective Theodore Wilder tracks down Miss Arabella Hamilton, trouble ensues, opposites attract, the end.

Favorite characters, quotes/lines: Turano has a way with phrases and statements that are quirky and grab your attention.

When I finished this book I felt: like I had finished a book, which I had. I held no strong attachments to the characters or the storyline though I did laugh quite a few times and highlighted some funny character attributes/thoughts/sayings.

Overall: Have you ever seen the 1984 movie "Romancing the Stone"? These stories totally remind me of those movies! They are quirky, funny, cute, adventuresome. No, there's no treasure hunt, but the feel of the story is very similar in my opinion.

Been awhile since you've seen it? Here's the trailer, just for fun:

Is A Change of Fortune and A Most Peculiar Circumstance bookshelf worthy? I'll let you decide.
I will be reading the last of this series, A Talent for Trouble when it comes out in the fall.
