Author: Julie Klassen
Publisher: Bethany House
Publishing Date: December 2, 2014
My interest in this book is: Julie Kalssen is a spectacular author & this is her first mystery-style book—why would I not try it?!
Type of Book: Historical Fiction, London & countryside 1818
Ideas / message / plot: Mystery, rumors, financial ruin, . . . love.
Favorite characters, quotes / lines: Who wouldn’t love Abigail, Leah, William & Mac? These characters are the lifeblood of this story and whose lives are a treasure that will touch your heart with a message of Life, love and friendship—the true treasures in life.
When I finished this book I felt: Beautiful...what a beautiful story; the characters, the tensions, the pace—everything. When I finished reading, I just wanted to call up my girlfriends and hang out--tell them how important they are to me. It refreshed my gratefulness for all God has given me.
Other books to read by this Author or theme: My favorite Klassen book is “The Girl in the Gatehouse,” “The Maid of Fairbourne Hall,” “The Dancing Master,” … really any of her books are fantastic.
Overall: If you love everything Austen, Julie’s books are not to be missed.
