Book Review ~ Dancing with Fireflies

Book: Dancing with Fireflies
Author: Denise Hunter
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
Publishing Date: March 11, 2014

I received this book free through www.netgalley.com from the publisher for an honest review.

My interest in this book: it's the 2nd in the series (3rd if you count the Novella A December Bride--which I suggest you pick up. It was one of my fav.s of 2013)

Ideas expressed / message / plot: Overcoming fear. Facing the adage: "I would rather have loved and lost than to have never loved at all."

Favorite characters, quotes/lines: I quickly fell in love with the Lead, Daniel. And Mama Jo...who wouldn't love her?! They both are sweet, lovable and oh, so real. Man, I feel for Daniel!

When I finished this book, I felt: Whew! What a story. I blew through this book in less than 24 hours (due to a cozy Sunday afternoon and a following Holiday). My heart was pulling so hard for the characters for victory that I couldn't let go until they had it.

Other books to read by Denise: Begin this Chapel Springs series with Barefoot Summer. I'm also completely in love with her Big Sky Romance series; I own all 3 books. If you enjoy big skies, open ranges and cowboys, this Big Sky series is for you!

Overall: The external conflict is a rather intense issue and I think there would have been more issues with the Lead female than we get in this story; at the same time I totally get why it was chosen. I'm giving this book 4 stars instead of 5 because of that disconnect I got, not feeling it may be realistic. I can't say though...it's never happened to me. I think I also would have liked to see more/deeper God moments.

I totally could see this as a Hallmark or Lifetime movie! I would watch it for sure! I highly recommend Denise Hunter's works for her ability to craft a wonderful, God-centered story that makes you feel warm and cozy and loved.

*Side note--Denise, your writing is so fantastic it made me miss the days of being pregnant--that glow and the joy of feeling my babies moving. There truly is nothing like it. Thanks for stirring the memories of such a great miracle & blessing.
