Book Review ~ A Beauty so Rare

Book: A Beauty so Rare
Author: Tamera Alexander
Publisher: Bethany House
Publishing Date: April 2014

I received this book free through www.netgalley.com from the publisher for an honest review.

My interest in this book:  I have adored reading Tamera Alexander's Southern Mansion books (To Whisper Her Name & Lasting Impression) and couldn't wait to get my hands on this one!

Ideas expressed / message / plot: There are so many sweet messages woven into the context of this story. Here are a few:
~ Don't let life hold you back from doing what you feel God has called you to do;
~ Life doesn't always turn out how you thought it would;
~ God is into the little details.

Favorite characters, quotes / lines: Oh, her character descriptions are hilarious:

"The man's ego practically entered the room before he did."

"Lawrence Hockley made the hands of a clock look spontaneous."

When I finished this book, I felt: like booking airline tickets and heading out to see the conservatory at Belmont! This is such a great book to read in Spring when the flowers are in bloom and you can sit outside reading in the midst of the sweet smell of flowers and picture yourself there in Tennessee.

I am in love, once again, with a new cast of characters. The lessons they learn and the principles of God and life are so sweetly spoken to the heart of the reader. This is a not-to-be-missed, add-it-to-your-list book series!

5 star and YES bookshelf worthy.

Overall: I recommend picking up this and the other two books in the Southern Mansion series'. I love the depth of character, the quality descriptions and storytelling. Tamera Alexander doesn't miss a beat when creating this intricate world of the South, transporting you to post-Civil War Tennessee and the lives therein.
