Creating Classic Characters

Academy Award-winning director Sydney Pollack (OUT OF AFRICA, TOOTSIE, THE WAY WE WERE) and NYPD Blue and Deadwood creator David Milch discuss the inspiration behind creating classic film and television characters. Although speaking specifically on TV and film, these techniques can be applied to the written word as well. 
(There is also a short film at the end, but I'm just interested in sharing the interviews.)
