Book Review ~ Love at Any Cost

 Book: Love at Any Cost
Author: Julie Lessman
Publisher: Revell
Date of Publication: May 2013

I received this book free through www.netgalley.com from the publisher for an honest review.

My interest in this book is: the author, location and the era. Plus, I'm a (Northern) California girl through and through so reading a book based in San Fran is a beautiful thing. Thanks, Julie!

Ideas expressed/message/plot: Trusting God. Our hero, Jamie MacKenna, really struggles with allowing God control in his life--as well as his family's--because of his past and all the pain he and his family has suffered. His battle: how can a God who has allowed this be trusted to do any good in my life?

Favorite characters, quotes/lines: Oh man--from personal experience--Julie NAILS it with her description of men in this book! From Pretty Boy Jamie to the humble Brahm, I can see these characters as if they are real people I know. I love the scene when Cassie is describing her ex-fiance and his "motives;" "nothing immoral" but "that didn't stop (him) from trying" Uh, yep. Been there, ex-fiance and all.

I love, love, love Jamie MacKenna & Cassie McClare! Though I must say, ALL the characters in this book have potential to lead in another book in the series. They are some of the best I have read.

One of my favorite quotes as relates to the plot: "This is too important for blind faith." ... "lay your will down for God's so he can bring us the miracle we all so desperately need"

When I finished this book I felt: satisfied. Great, great read. I am excited to continue reading about some of the other characters; even though nothing felt "unresolved" in the story there is so much depth in the other players that I just. can't. wait!

Other books to read by this author or theme: Passion Most Pure by Lessman has a similar "bad boy" redemption story that I adore.

Overall: I would recommend this book to adults & romance-lovers.
Definitely bookshelf worthy whether it's just to read it again and again to to loan out to a friend.
5 Stars!

    1. You bet, Julie! And thanks for stopping by! My review went up on Amazon a day before this one went live. ;-) I've got you covered!

Seriously, we'll done my dear. Thanks for living out your life of faith so boldly through your books and changing lives because of it. You truly are using the gifts God has given you (a beautiful blending of your passions, abilities and personality) to make an impact on many. I pray that what you allow God to do in your life continues to pour out in a never ceasing, always and forever way that we may be blessed in the overflow!
