Book Review ~ Clouds

Book Title: Clouds (book 5 in the Glenbrooke Series)
Author: Robin Jones Gunn
Publisher: Multnomah Books 1997/2012

Type of book: Contemporary Inspirational Fiction

I received this book: for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

My interest in this book: I love the content & writing style

Ideas/message/plot: Childhood friends fall in love, part ways, and deal with the feelings of that decision--all told from the POV of Lead female Shelly Grahm.

We don't have multiple points of view in this story, unlike many writers of today. Sometimes simple is good; streamlines the storytelling and makes for an easy read.

Favorite characters, quotes/lines: I love the message given in chapter 23; it is so transferable to anyone's life and the way it is written into the story is very natural which helps the hearer (both character and reader) breathe it in.

When I finished the book I felt: Satisfied. Not only was it a good story but also a concluding piece I wanted in one of the previous books in the series occurred.

Overall: I love reading stories that cause me to see God in a fresh light or to recognize how He has been working in my own life. I read this story and then later that day was having my own worship time with God, reflecting on those situations in the book that connected with various parts and emotional situations of my own life, and was so thankful for His presence in my life; how awesome He is.

Any author who can draw me into a story and then, through it, cause me to worship God for the amazing ways He has touched my life--like He had in the character's lives--will be an author that I read again and again and recommend to all those that will hear.

I have also enjoyed Echoes (1996/2012), book 3 in the Glenbrook Series.
